Artist’s
Statement
Art is what I do—it keeps me sane. My hands are my voice, painting
is my song, creating is my path, and life is why I am here. Art has
been with me from the age of 3 and has been teaching me to trust the
things I “see,” either it be conscious or unconscious,
and has challenged me to execute these visions by exploring with different
types of techniques and materials. It has been a continuous learning
adventure accentuated by curiosity, child's play and the happy accidents
that occur from time to time. As a result, it comes down to being,
feeling, reacting, interacting and the goal to give back to life what
it has given to me.
Lee Ann “leebs” Goya graduated with a BFA in Visual
Communications from California State University, Long Beach, in 1994.
She studied design for practical reasons but found that, in her free
time, she would paint and illustrate—this was to become her voice,
a way of communicating the things she saw, felt and envisioned. In 2000,
Lee Ann made the decision to follow her heart. Currently, she is working
on getting Muchas ’n’ Poquitos out into the public, via
exhibitions, shows and other venues.
